Head of Business Architecture (Principal Level) Department of Social Protection

The key responsibilities of the role are to:

•    Engage with business units and service partners to identify opportunities for innovation that will enable and drive achievement of the Departments strategic goals.

•    Support business initiatives and projects through identification of opportunities to deploy advanced  ICT solutions and Digital Services.

•    Drive the appropriate adoption of innovative technology and reuse of existing technology for business process improvement.

•    Work with other Government Departments and agencies to identify opportunities to integrate service chains and to develop and build IT and process solutions, including APIS,  to support this integration.

•    Work with the Department’s ICT, Digital Services and Customer Service Units to deliver the Government target of 90% of applicable services consumed online by 2030.

•    Identify how innovative technologies can further enable business capability, including the development of a roadmap and prioritisation metrics for increased automation and use of AI capabilities.

•    Ensure, working with the department’s Project Management Office (PMO), that robust governance is in place to support business change initiatives led by the Business Architect’s Office.

•    Develop annual business plans and three yearly strategic plans for the development of the Business Architecture role in the Department.

•    Build and maintain a strong Business Architect team, supporting team members to realise their potential and to successfully deliver projects.

•    Promote and support the wider development Business Architecture competencies and knowledge  across the organisation.

Essential Entry Requirements, Qualifications and Experience

This is a senior leadership role at Principal level within the Department. The person appointed will be expected to show strong leadership capabilities together with a strong understanding of process design, software development and ICT operations.

Candidates must, on or before Friday 31st May 2024 have;

•    A Level 8 qualification in Business Information Systems, Business Process Development, or a related discipline.

•    Five or more years of experience in the areas of business analysis/analytics, or business architecture or project/program management.

•    Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture tools to develop business architecture deliverables.

•    Knowledge of business process and workflow management, methods, and tools.

•    Strong analytical and conceptual skills with the ability to create original concepts.

•    achievements, from their career to date, of where/ how they have delivered major ICT/ digital projects, to the benefit of the business of their organisation.
