HOUSEMASTER/MISTRESS

Clongowes Wood College SJ is one of Ireland’s oldest and most successful 7-day boarding schools for boys, situated 35km west of Dublin, in Co. Kildare.  We are committed to the provision of the highest quality Catholic education in the Jesuit tradition.

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding individual to fill the role of Housemaster/Housemistress for September 2024 to be part of our boarding staff team.  The position is a full time role. The hours for this role shall be 40 hours per week..

Description of the Job :

The housemaster/mistress will be responsible for the pastoral care and wellbeing of the boys.

Duties will include;    

-    Establishing a home-like, family atmosphere embodying the College’s Jesuit values, and facilitate possibilities for the boys to grow in their faith. •

-    Building a trusting relationship with each boy and facilitate his personal growth.

-    Encouraging effective interactions amongst the boys, and between the boys and members of staff in a spirit of fairness, respect, and community.

-    Supporting the dual ‘living and learning’ environment which is at the core of our boarding school life.

-    Ensuring high standards of discipline, tidiness, and presentation.

-    Ensure strong links and personal contact between the school and parents.

-    Involvement in the co-curricular life of the College is expected.  

Remuneration :

A competitive salary in the range of €34,000 to €50,000. Single accommodation is available.
